ALEKSANDR PANKIN
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation
Graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR in 1985. Fluent in English and Hungarian. Holds the diplomatic rank of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (conferred on February 10, 2018).
Has been working in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1985. Gained extensive experience working both in the Ministry’s central office and abroad. From 2001 to 2005 – Senior Adviser with the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva. From 2005 to 2010 – Deputy Director of the Department of International Organisations, from 2010 to 2014 – First Deputy Director of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN in New York.
From 2014 to 2017 – Director of the Department of International Organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Since 2016 – Member of the Collegium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Since October 2017 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Has letters of acknowledgement from the President and the Government of the Russian Federation and departmental awards.
Responsible for issues related to Eurasian integration and economic cooperation.
