CHIZHOV VLADIMIR

Permanent representative of Russia in the European Union

1976 – graduated from Moscow State institute of International Relations. In the diplomatic service since 1976.

He held various positions in the central machinery of the Ministry of Foreign affairs and abroad, including those in embassies in Greece and on Cyprus, deputy head of the Russian delegation in OSCE, deputy High Representative on peaceful settlement in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russian Ministry of Foreign affairs special representative in problems of Cyprus settlement, Russian Ministry of Foreign affairs special representative in the Balkans.

Since 2000 has had the rank of ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary.

2002 – appointed deputy Minister of foreign affairs of Russia.

Since 2005 – permanent representative of Russia in the European Union.

Author of a number of articles and research works.

Has state awards.
