He has served for the diplomatic service since 1990. He took the positions of the Head of the Directorates of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, USSR, for the countries of the Far East and Indo-China, the Ambassador of Russia in Mongolia, the Ambassador of Russia in Poland, the Director of the Third Department of CIS of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Deputy Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ambassador of Russia in China.
In 2013 he was appointed to the position of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Italian Republic and the Republic of San Marino.
